CLARENCE LEE

Singaporean pianist Clarence Lee was admitted to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory at the age of 15 as a National Arts Council Scholar, and graduated with 1st Class Honours. He was his class valedictorian and was awarded the coveted Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medallion as the top performing scholar of his cohort. Clarence has also achieved a Master of Music degree and Graduate Diploma in Piano Performance from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.

Clarence has been praised by The Straits Times for being a "true master of sonorities". His teachers have included Thomas Hecht, Melvyn Tan, Albert Tiu, Lori Kaufman and Marian Hahn.

Clarence has won many awards and honors. In 2014, the Distinction award at the 1st Hong Kong International Music Competition for Young Pianists. In 2011, 2nd Prize at the National Piano & Violin Competition and 3rd Prize at the Conservatory’s Piano Concerto Competition. In 2006, the Platinum award at the Singapore Performer’s Festival. In 2005, the Top Prize at the Young Pianist Competition Senior Category.

​He has appeared as the concerto soloist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Artsakh State Chamber Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Singapore Festival Orchestra, Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Music Makers and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory’s New Music Ensemble. He has also collaborated with the Penang Philharmonic Orchestra, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, Base Philharmonic Orchestra, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Orchestra and Ding Yi Music Company.

Clarence is currently on the Piano Faculty at LASALLE College of the Arts, an Adjunct Collaborative Pianist at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and a Senior Teacher (Piano) at MW Fine Arts Academy.
