KHOONG SHOK MENG

Ms Khoong Shok Meng believes in a holistic approach in education, with equal emphasis on performance and music understanding, and that musical style should be enhanced through concerts, workshops and competitions.

Shok Meng is a former chief instructor in Yamaha Music School and was also the appointed Clinician for Alfred Publishing Company, conducting public seminars and workshops in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Shok Meng has performed actively in two-piano recitals, many of which were charity projects. The most recent was held in 2002, organized by ASME Women Entrepreneur Chapter, with Singapore’s late President Mr. Ong Teng Cheong as the Guest-of-Honor. In recent years, she also performed as part of a Piano Trio in key events in Singapore including recitals in Eden Hall, at the British High Commissioners’ Residence, the Tanglin Club, St. George’s Church and American Club. The Trio did a CD recording entitled String East Singapore and all of the sales proceeds went to the Mission to Seafarers charity.

Shok Meng has been the adjudicator for Ars Nova Fest since 2014. She is also the Principal and Director of MW Fine Arts Academy, a member of the Board of Directors – IPVAEB and the Academic Advisory Board.
